Series of drypoint etchings, 10.5 × 10.5 cm
This series of small-format drypoint etchings explores the rondo as both formal structure and narrative device. Composed within a circular picture plane, each of the four works presents a self-contained scene drawn from an interior, lyrical world: August listens to the rain; The Poet’s boat navigates uncertain waters; I’m waiting for you situates a fox in a landscape of longing; The Dream closes the cycle with a figure beneath a golden moon.
The choice of drypoint – an intaglio technique prized for its immediacy and the distinctive velvety quality of its line – reinforces the intimate scale of the works. Executed at 10.5 × 10.5 cm, the prints reward close, unhurried looking. A restrained palette of black and grey is punctuated in the final work by a note of gold, underscoring the series’ emotional arc from quiet observation toward dream.
Together, the pieces function as a cycle: thematically linked, visually coherent, and quietly insistent in their emotional register.
